A lot is happening!

Day 32 - Farmlife

I've met a lot of very inspiring people. Some people have a smile on their face no matter what. Thanks to those people, you make the world a better place :)

Today I'm spending the day with my 2 friends from Rabat, at a big farm(house) close to Rabat. One of them ownes it, including private swimmingpool. We swam with great happiness seen the hot weather. I got some exercise, a delicious tajine, and a sunburn. Great day!

Day 33 - Pepernoten

The 1st of September. A new month has started and the fact that I now write ' Day 33: 1 september' in my diary makes me somehow realize that my journey is real. I'm 26 and on a worldtrip. Questions like '(How) will I change?' run through my head. How exciting!

Today I returned to my sweet hostfamily in Casablanca. I missed them and our daily teas. A week ago I promised to bake Dutch cookies - or pepernoten -, and today is gonna be the day. Even though the ingredients and the oven were slightly different (since speculaaskruiden don't exist here and there's not even a translation for it, I choose a 4-spices mix which smelled a little bit like it. No idea which spices are in there..), the cookies were delicious! When trying to explain what we actually celebrate on the 5th of December, I realized I don't know.

Day 34 - Marrakech

Yeaaah, Marrakech... Yeaah...
Compared to the smaller places and less touristic ones it feels like a massive hole of tourist traps, overprized everythings and a more than average amount of unfriendly people. The Djemaa el-Fna square is of course beautiful to see & I had some great harira, spakia, tanjia, coffee and good talks with some guys from the hostel.

Day 35 - A trip from hell

This day brought me a great new friend and teammate for the battle to get to Taghazout. My plan was to do some hostelwork in Marrakech, but since I didn't like it here and suddenly everyone was talking about the surfersparadise Taghazout, I changed my plans. So of we went, me and Inge, to Taghazout. Everything went supersmoothly, up until 14.00 when we arrived at the Marrakech busstation. From the second she said 'Everything is going supersmoothly', she tripped, the 14.15 bus was full so we had to wait until 16.30, we made a little boy cry and we very very almost missed the 16.30 bus. And let's not talk about the 3-hour trip (what should have been 30 minutes) from Agadir to Taghazout. And oh, I forgot the part where we almost got kidnapped!
When we arrived at Inges hostel at 23.00, we were so happy. Especially me, because I had no booking at all and they gave this homeless person a bed and breakfast without asking for anything in return. Thank you guys!

Day 36 - Paradise without surfing

My hunt for a cheaper hostel ended after visiting about 6 hostels. Kreker hostel it is! Nice place, nice people, what more do I need? A surflesson, I figured. So completely ready I went to the beach and woooow THE WAVES! Other people didn't seem to find it a problem but to me they seemed intimidating. After an hour I decided to skip the 'surf' in surf 'n chill, and to just relax for the week. Perfect! I can handle mountains and the underwaterworld and you can wake me up to go snowboarding or canyoning, but the waves scare me ;)
