Shanghai, my new place to live?
15 oktober 2016 - Shanghai, China
Day 75 - Shanghai :)
My -hard- windowseat in the nighttrain made me very happy (since there are sometimes 3 seats in a row and the other two have NOwhere to put their heads). Still, after 15 hours I left my seat with a sore neck and butt and with swolen legs and feet. Next time I'll consider a sleeper, which is twice as expensive but probably way more comfortable. Travelersissues..
But: I was never so grateful for a normal bed than after these 2 nights, so I guess it was (almost?) all worth it again ;)
While backpacking (especially on a budget) things are never sure, which makes me appreciate all the small things in life so much more: a hot shower, a chance to do my laundry and wear clean clothes again, having a cup of coffee, spend the night in a normal bed, being able to download new music. Gratefulness makes you happy and that's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about travelling.
In the evening I took my sleepy head to see The Bund, to watch Shanghai's impressive skyline. Rotterdam's disappears next to this ;) So, who wouldn't want to stay in a beautiful place like this..?
Day 76
Because I feel like moving all the time and the walking doesn't seem to be enough, I bought a jumprope. Exerciiiiise :D
Today was all about getting my Chinese simcard and groceries, which can take up a lot of your time when lacking any Chinese skills. But I did it!
I spend the evening doing a tour through the French Concession, organised by Couchsurfers. I had a great night and met lots of great people :) They also convinced me to stay in Shanghai for the job, and they assured me I'll find one within a week. So, let my jobhunt begin for real!! 7 days to go..
